Hawk on the Wing

Hawk on the Wing, affectionately known as Zara, is a beautiful grey mare whose exceptional movement, natural jumping ability, and outstanding temperament make her a valuable member of the BJM Farms broodmare program. A true hunter type, Zara boasts three expressive, quality gaits, a naturally large stride, and a consistently impressive jump, combining the elegance and rideability sought after in a modern sport horse.

Beyond her athletic qualities, Zara possesses the kind of exceptional mind that makes her truly special. Bold, confident, and exceptionally kind, she has demonstrated the versatility and temperament to be enjoyed by amateur riders while still offering the quality and presence desired in a competitive hunter. Her combination of movement, technique, and rideability makes her an exciting foundation for producing beautiful, well-rounded sport horses.

Now retired sound from her own riding career to focus on breeding, Zara is passing these desirable qualities on to the next generation. Her 2026 foal by Leviathan GET brings together her proven hunter type and temperament with the stallion’s distinguished Landkönig and Contango jumping pedigree.

Zara represents what we value in a broodmare at BJM Farms: athleticism, an exceptional mind, beautiful movement, and the potential to produce horses that are as enjoyable to ride as they are talented. We are excited to see her influence continue through her offspring.
